This unique ecosystem is home to 14 rare and endangered species that includes the Florida Panther, West Indian Manatee, and American Crocodile. Not only is the Everglades National Park home to rare species but it is rich in Native American history as well. Evidence of Native American settlers can be traced back as far as the 16th century.
